Camping vs Cottage vs Hotel in Auli: What Should You Actually Book?
Auli's accommodation options range from basic homestays to fully-appointed luxury cottages, with glamping-style stays like ours in between. Here's how to think about which one actually fits your trip.

Standard hotels
The straightforward option: private rooms, predictable amenities, often the most budget-flexible range. Good if you want simplicity and don't have strong preferences about atmosphere — a base to sleep in between skiing or trekking days rather than a destination in itself.
Cottages and boutique resorts
A step up in both comfort and character — think pinewood cottages, mountain-view rooms, and a more curated food and hospitality experience. Good if you want real comfort and a sense of place, without going fully rustic.
Luxury camping / glamping
This is where we sit: our Glass Cabin and Dome House put you closer to the mountain — literally, with wraparound views many conventional rooms can't offer — while keeping the comfort of a proper bed, ensuite bathroom, and real hospitality. It trades some of a hotel's predictability for a genuinely different kind of morning: waking up with the Himalayas outside the glass rather than outside a window down a corridor.
Good if the experience of being in the mountains is the point of the trip, not just a place to sleep between activities — which is exactly the guest we built WAMOS for. As one guest put it: "waking up to Nanda Devi from our bed was surreal."
How to actually decide
Ask yourself: are you here mainly for activities (skiing, trekking) with sleep as a formality, or is the stay itself part of why you came? The first points toward a standard hotel or cottage. The second points toward glamping — and if it's the latter, see the Glass Cabin and Dome House.
Whatever you choose, book direct or through a platform you trust, check what's included versus charged separately, and confirm cancellation terms before you pay — that applies everywhere in Auli, not just here.
